How does the laser treatment work?

The laser creates a beam of high-intensity light that penetrates deep into skin tissue where it delivers a controlled amount of heat.

What can I expect during my treatment?

Treatment will take place in our office by Kristen Saccogna, certified laser technician. You will wear protective eye wear to protect your eyes from the laser light. The laser hand piece will gently be guided over the area to be treated. Each laser pulse may be preceded by a short pulse of cooling spray.

Does it hurt?

Some patients may feel a slight discomfort with each laser pulse, frequently described as a rubber band snapping the skin. However, the discomfort is minimized by our lasers Dynamic cooling device.

What can I expect after my treatment?

The skin can remain red and slightly swollen for up to 48 hours. You should avoid sun exposure immediately before and after being treated with the laser. It is very important to use a 30 SPF sun block when going outdoors.

What precautions should I take after a treatment?

Do not scrub the area treated for a few days. Avoid sun exposure.

Are there side effects?

The risks are minimal. However, side effects may include redness, swelling, blistering, hyperpigmentation, and hypopigmentaion. These symptoms usually go away within a few days. Permanent side effects such as scarring is very rare.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of sessions depends on the treatment you require and the condition of your skin. For hair removal, a minimum of four to seven treatments is usually needed, as the process is only effective in the early growing stage. For pigmented lesions and freckles, the spots can fade in as little as one to two treatments.

Can you treat dark skin types?

Yes! We can treat all skin types and complexions including tanned skin and African American skin without harming your skin color using our state-of-the-art Candela GentleYAG laser.

Does your laser treat blonde hairs?

Unfortunately, our laser does not treat blonde, white, or gray hairs. Lasers target melanin, or color,  in the hair follicles.  If there is no color in the hair then laser hair removal will not work for you.

Consultations are $50, but that amount will be applied toward a procedure if scheduled within 30 days of the consultation.
